The Technical Perspective

The Datahaven embeddable ECM solutions offer software developers and other technical staff the ability to add database-driven, security-controlled ECM functionality to existing software applications using as few as three API calls. Development Environments


	Software developers can utilize the Datahaven Windows SDK from directly within any integrated development environment that supports the consumption of a .NET component or an ActiveX control, including Microsoft Visual Studio and PowerBuilder. 	You can utilize the web-based version of the Datahaven SDK directly from directly within any integrated development environment that supports design-time .NET components, including C#.NET or VB.NET. Development Environments Database Platforms

To provide the greatest implementation flexibility, Datahaven supports the following database platforms:

Microsoft SQL Server Express, Standard, or Enterprise (2000 or later). Please see Microsoft's published system requirements for SQL Server http://www.microsoft.com/sql/editions/standard/sysreqs.mspx
Oracle (8i or later)
Informix Dynamic Server (7 or later)

Database Implementation Options

Datahaven's support of multiple database platforms provides value and flexibility that allows you to create an architecture that dovetails with your application and its database platform. For example, you will have the flexibility to:

Embed the Datahaven database schema within your application's database
Create a separate database on the same database platform as your application or
Create a separate database on a different database platform as your application.

Database Platforms Storage Media

The Datahaven repository provides enterprise-class scalability and enables your application to search any number of fields up to the table field limit number of the underlying database platform. Although Datahaven itself imposes no maximum file size, if database BLOB storage is used, then the maximum BLOB size is limited by the underlying database platform.

To provide the greatest amount of flexibility to the business while managing business continuity and disaster recovery needs, IT costs, user access, performance requirements, and business and legal needs for retention and storage security, Datahaven can take advantage of a wide range of storage options.
